I am interested in the perception of reality, especially in relation to photography where 'the camera never lies'. We often think of photography as being a medium that purely represents reality, but that simply isn't true.
In my work I like to challenge this 'reality' of the photograph, and push the boundaries of photography. So far this has led to experimenting with close-up (macro) photography, as well as digital imagery - creating photos that are layered, mirrored or abstracted in some way to create an entirely new image.
I mainly use images from nature as my subject because to me it represents an escapism from reality. Being among a majority who live in urban surroundings, the natural landscape is an escape from all of the stresses of that environment.
